DOMAINE AMÉLIE & CHARLES SPARR

This estate was born with the love story of Charles and Amélie. Both coming from long standing Vintner families. They brought vineyards from both family domains together and created their Estate. Amélie had expanded her Masters in International Wine trade studies with internships at Zind-Humbrecht & Chateau Pommard. Charles studied Oenology in Beaune and broadened his horizon during his time at Mumm Napa in California and Richmond Plains, one of the pioneers of biodynamic viticulture on New Zealand’s South Island.

Charles had always been curious about Biodynamic viticulture and they received their certification in 2019.

Combined they have a wealth of knowledge and passion which shows in the definition of purity & energy in their wines. General Winemaking philosophy incorporates native yeast, Aging in Steel tanks, Oak barrels or Fudre Casks for some wines. Mainly whites in steel tanks and reds in oak. 12 months on lees without sulphites, wines are filtered and some sulphite added in July before bottling in August.

As my father said, we need to wait 9 months for a baby, for a great wine you need 12 months. We like that the wine spends 4 seasons in the cellar.
