Poggio Bonelli is located in the very heart of Tuscany, in the prestigious Chianti Classico zone. The local winemaking traditions, dating back to the 16th century, are kept alive, thanks to the 83 hectares of vineyards, cultivated to produce the renowned Poggio Bonelli wines.

I CLIVI

I CLIVI, MARIO ZANUSSO, FRIULI – VENEZIA GIULIA

We have been working with I Clivi for quite some time now and their wines never cease to impress us

with their purity, poise, and ability to age gracefully. The estate was founded by Ferdinando Zanusso and is managed today by his son Mario. The steep, terraced vineyards in two growing districts of Friuli: Colli Orientali and Collio are planted with old vines of Friulano, Malvasia Istriana, Ribolla and Verduzzo. While each grape expresses itself differently, there is a common denominator to all IClivi wines... - they always reveal something more than just a primary fruit. Mario’s vines are incredibly low yielding and planted on calcerous soil, in local dialect called “ponca”– packed with fossilized shells which give the wines strong mineral backbone. Mario farms organically and vinifies his wines in minimalistic way.

This year we are very exited to tell you about a new wine which joins iClivi range. It is a special red made with the rare variety Schioppettino (aka Ribolla Nera). It comes from 50 years old, south - east facing plot in Prepotto and has a signature delicacy of iClivi wines...saline and subtly layered with red cherry, wild herbs, peppercorns. A joy to drink with only 12.5% alcohol!

PRANZEGG

PRANZEGG, MARTIN GOJER, ALTO ADIGE

Pranzegg is a small biodynamic farm set amidst hilly slopes of Südtirol, forming a gateway to the Dolomite Mountain range in the Italian Alps. Martin Gojer took over the reigns at the family estate in 2008. Inspired by Josko Gravner, in his early days as a winemaker, Martin has chosen to work and live as close to nature as possible. His vineyards (totalling 3.5 hectares) are seen as an integral part of the ecosystem in which the division between winemaking as a profession and as a way of life doesn’t apply. His vines (between 30 and 90 years old) are mostly trained on a traditional pergola, which lifts the foliage off the ground providing much needed shade and ventilation. The focus is on two local red varieties: Vernatsch (Schiava) which has a thin skin, giving lightly coloured juice with rather soft mouthfeel and Lagrein – highly pigmented grape providing structure. The white grapes (mostly field blends of Müller Thurgau, Manzoni Bianco, Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay) are in minority, nevertheless are used to make intriguing, lively wines (often macerated on the skins). The biodynamic principles are equally respected in the vineyards and during the winemaking, which for Martin is an ongoing learning process where sensitivity, intuition and open mindedness are needed. In Martin’s own words: “Nature always gives us new situations to which we must choose to react (…)” Ever since we have tasted Pranzegg wines couple of years ago, we were in love with their natural precision, balance, and harmony. It took us some time, but finally we have a chance to bring all those qualities to you!
